About the Extract PDF Pages

Pull the pages you need out of a PDF, such as one chapter, a signed page or a single invoice, and download them as a new PDF, or as separate one-page PDFs in a ZIP. Tap the thumbnails or type page numbers like 1, 3, 5-8.

Everything happens in your browser. The file isn't uploaded, and your original isn't changed.

How it works

The selected pages are copied, byte for byte, into a new PDF: their text, images, fonts, page size, rotation, links and comments come along, so nothing is re-compressed. The document's title, author and other details are copied too, and form fields on those pages stay fillable with their current values.

Pages always come out in their original order, whatever order you type them in. Page numbers are the positions in your PDF viewer, starting at 1. A page that doesn't exist, or a typo, is reported instead of being skipped.

3 one page
2-5 pages 2, 3, 4 and 5
8- page 8 to the end
last the last page
1, 3, 5-8 several, separated by commas

Assumptions and limits

  • Files up to 100 MB. Very large PDFs can be slow on older phones.
  • Bookmarks (the outline in the sidebar) that point to extracted pages keep working. Bookmarks and links to pages you didn't extract stay in the file but no longer lead anywhere.
  • PDFs that need a password to open can't be used. Remove the password first if you know it. Files that open without a password but have restrictions keep those restrictions.
  • Thumbnails are shown for the first 60 pages; later pages can still be chosen by typing their numbers.

Worked examples

Keep one chapter

For a 120-page book, type 41-58. The summary reads 'Extracting 18 of 120 pages: 41-58' and the download has those 18 pages.

Send just the signed pages

Tap the thumbnails of pages 3 and 9 (the range box fills in '3, 9'), keep 'One PDF', and you get a 2-page PDF.

One file per invoice

A statement with an invoice on each page: type 1-12 and choose 'Each page as its own PDF'. The ZIP holds statement-page-01.pdf to statement-page-12.pdf.

How to use the Extract PDF Pages

  1. Open your PDF. Drop the file on the page or pick it; a thumbnail of every page (up to 60) shows up.
  2. Choose what to keep. Tap the thumbnails you need, or type page numbers and ranges such as 1, 3, 5-8.
  3. Save the pages. Pick one combined PDF or one PDF per page in a ZIP, then download.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between Extract and Split?

They overlap. Extract is for picking a few pages to keep, by tapping thumbnails or typing their numbers. Split is for cutting a whole document into parts, such as every chapter or every few pages.

Will the pages lose quality?

No. Each page is copied byte for byte, with the same text, images and fonts, so nothing is re-compressed or redrawn. The new file is usually smaller only because it has fewer pages.

Can I change the page order?

Pages always come out in their original order, even if you type them in another order. To put them in a different order, open the extracted file in Organize PDF and drag the pages around.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The PDF is read and written by your browser, on your device. Nothing from the file is sent to our server, and we can't see it.

Is there a size or page limit?

Files up to 100 MB are accepted, and there's no fixed page limit: a 1,000-page file works. Very large files can be slow on older phones, because all the work happens on your device.
