About the Scan to PDF

Turn photos of documents into a clean PDF: take pictures with your phone's camera or pick them from your gallery, straighten each page by dragging its corners, and download one PDF with all the pages in order.

Everything happens in your browser. Your photos are never uploaded.

How it works

Each photo is turned the right way up (using the orientation your camera recorded), then the four corners you set are mapped to a straight rectangle with a perspective correction, so a page photographed at an angle comes out flat. Large camera photos are scaled down to at most 2480 pixels on the long side, which is A4 at 300 dpi: sharp for text, and small enough for phones to handle.

Black and white uses an adaptive threshold that compares each pixel with its surroundings, so shadows and uneven light don't turn the page grey. The pages are saved as JPEG images inside the PDF.

Assumptions and limits

  • Corners are set by hand; the page edges aren't detected automatically.
  • Up to 30 photos per PDF, 25 MB each. JPG, PNG and WebP work everywhere; HEIC photos open in Safari, and on iPhone they're converted to JPEG when you pick them.
  • The pages are images: the text isn't selectable or searchable. Use OCR PDF on the result to add a text layer.

Worked examples

A receipt photographed at an angle

Take the photo, tap the crop button, drag the four corners onto the receipt's corners and press Done. The page comes out straight, without the table around it.

A 12-page contract

Choose all 12 photos at once, use the arrows to fix the order, choose 'Black and white (documents)' and A4, then create the PDF.

A sideways photo

Tap the rotate button on that page until it's upright; the corners you set turn with it.

How to use the Scan to PDF

  1. Add photos. Take them with the camera or choose them from your gallery or computer.
  2. Fix each page. Reorder, rotate, delete, and drag the corners to straighten a page.
  3. Create the PDF. Pick page size, look and quality, then download.

Frequently asked questions

Are my photos uploaded?

No. The photos are read, straightened and turned into a PDF by your browser on your device. Nothing is sent to our server, and the photos stay only in the page until you start over or close it.

Why does my photo appear sideways?

Phones store which way up a photo was taken, and the tool applies it. If a page is still the wrong way round, tap its rotate button; the corners you set rotate with the picture.

Can I search the text in the PDF?

Not directly: the pages are pictures of the documents. Run the downloaded file through OCR PDF to add a searchable text layer, or use Image to Text to copy the words out.

Which setting should I use for documents?

Black and white (documents) with A4 or US Letter gives the cleanest, smallest file for text. Use Original colour for photos, stamps or anything where colour matters.

Is there a limit?

Up to 30 photos per PDF and 25 MB per photo. Large photos are scaled to 2480 pixels on the long side so phones don't run out of memory.

This tool runs entirely in your browser. What you enter or upload stays on your device and is never sent to our servers.
