About the Excel to PDF

Turn an Excel workbook into a PDF that looks like the printed sheet: numbers and dates in their formats, bold headings, colours, borders and merged cells, ready to email or print. Every sheet is converted.

Everything happens in your browser. The workbook isn't uploaded.

How it works

Each cell is shown the way Excel shows it, using the sheet's own number and date formats, so 1234.5 formatted as #,##0.00 prints as 1,234.50 and a date prints as 15-Oct-2026. Column widths, row heights, alignment, bold and italic text, fill colours, borders and merged cells are kept, and long text spills into empty cells on its right as it does in Excel.

Sheets wider than the page are turned to landscape and scaled down a little; if they're still too wide, the remaining columns continue on the next pages, and long sheets continue onto as many pages as they need. Hidden rows, columns and sheets are left out.

Assumptions and limits

  • Excel .xlsx files up to 25 MB. Older .xls and .csv files need saving as .xlsx first; password-protected workbooks need their password removed in Excel.
  • Charts, pictures, comments and conditional formatting aren't included; cell values, formats and styles are.
  • Formulas print their last calculated result, as saved in the file.
  • Every visible sheet is converted, each starting on a new page.

Worked examples

An invoice sheet

Bold headings, the merged title across the top, right-aligned amounts in your currency format and the grey total row all come out as they look in Excel.

A wide report

A 20-column sheet turns to landscape automatically and is scaled to fit; with 30 columns, the extra columns continue on following pages.

A long list

A 500-row price list continues across as many pages as it needs, with every row printed once.

How to use the Excel to PDF

  1. Choose the .xlsx file. Every visible sheet will be converted.
  2. Pick page size and orientation. Automatic turns wide sheets to landscape.
  3. Download the PDF. Ready to email, share or print.

Frequently asked questions

Will my number and date formats be kept?

Yes. Each value is printed with the sheet's own number format, so currencies, thousands separators, percentages, accounting brackets and dates look the same as in Excel.

What happens to a sheet that's too wide?

It's turned to landscape and scaled down a little to fit. If it still doesn't fit, the extra columns continue on the following pages, so nothing is cut off or shrunk until it's unreadable.

Is my workbook uploaded?

No. The workbook is read and the PDF is made by your browser, on your own device. Nothing from the file is sent to our server, so your figures stay private.

Are charts and images included?

Not yet. The PDF contains the cells, with their values, formats, colours, borders and merged areas. Charts, pictures, comments and conditional formatting are left out.

Can I convert .xls or .csv files?

Save them as .xlsx first: open the file in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers and choose Save As or Download as .xlsx. Then convert the new file here.

This tool runs entirely in your browser. What you enter or upload stays on your device and is never sent to our servers.
