About the Online Signature Maker

Make an image of your signature to add to documents, forms, emails or invoices. Type your name and choose a handwriting style, or draw your signature with a finger, stylus or mouse, then download it as a PNG with a transparent background.

The image is created in your browser. Your name and signature aren't uploaded or stored anywhere.

How it works

In typed mode your name is drawn in one of three handwriting fonts (Great Vibes, Dancing Script or Caveat) at high resolution. The fonts are open-source and served from this site, so the result looks the same on every device.

In drawn mode the pad records your strokes at your screen's full pixel density. Either way, the image is trimmed to the ink with a small margin, so it doesn't arrive with a large empty border.

PNG keeps transparency: only the ink is opaque, so the signature sits cleanly on top of a document, letterhead or coloured background. The 'PNG on white' option is for places that don't handle transparent images well.

Assumptions and limits

  • A signature image is not a certified digital signature. Whether a signed document is accepted depends on the recipient and the rules for that kind of document; contracts and official forms may need a certificate-based signature.
  • Keep the image private: anyone who has the file could paste it onto a document.

Worked examples

Signing a PDF form

Download the transparent PNG, then open Sign PDF on this site, choose the image and place it on the signature line.

An email or invoice footer

Type your name, pick a style and use the blue ink for a pen-like look. Insert the PNG into your email signature or invoice template.

Drawing on a phone

Turn the phone sideways for a wider pad and sign with your finger. If it doesn't look right, clear it and try again; nothing is saved until you download.

How to use the Online Signature Maker

  1. Type or draw. Choose a mode, then type your name or sign in the box.
  2. Choose ink and style. Black or blue ink; three handwriting styles or three pen widths.
  3. Download the PNG. Transparent background by default, or on white.

Frequently asked questions

Is a signature made here legally binding?

It can be one part of an electronic signature, but the image alone proves little about who added it. Many everyday documents accept it, while some contracts and official forms require a certified digital signature; check with whoever receives the document.

Why is the background checkered in the preview?

The checks show transparency: they won't appear in the downloaded file. Only the ink is visible, so the signature blends into whatever document you place it on.

How do I add the signature to a PDF?

Download the PNG, then use Sign PDF on this site. It lets you pick the page, place and resize the signature, and download the signed PDF, all in your browser.

Can I use my own handwriting font?

Typed signatures use three open-source handwriting fonts built into the page. For your real handwriting, use the Draw mode, which captures exactly what you sign.

Is my signature stored anywhere?

No. The image is created on your device and only saved when you choose to download it. Nothing is uploaded to a server, and closing or reloading the page removes it completely.
