About the Pivot Point Calculator

Calculate pivot points with support and resistance levels from the previous period's high, low and close. Choose classic floor pivots, Fibonacci, Woodie or Camarilla, used by day traders in forex, stocks and futures.

Use yesterday's figures for today's levels, or last week's for weekly pivots.

How it works

Classic pivots: the pivot is (high + low + close) ÷ 3. Resistance 1 is 2 × pivot − low and support 1 is 2 × pivot − high; R2 and S2 add and subtract the day's range; R3 and S3 extend further by twice the distance to the pivot.

Fibonacci pivots add and subtract 38.2%, 61.8% and 100% of the range from the classic pivot. Woodie pivots give the close twice the weight: (high + low + 2 × close) ÷ 4. Camarilla levels sit around the close at 1.1 × the range divided by 12, 6, 4 and 2.

Assumptions and limits

  • The close must lie between the high and the low of the same period.
  • Pivot levels are reference points, not predictions.
  • For planning only, not financial advice.

Worked examples

EUR/USD daily

High 1.2100, low 1.1900, close 1.2050: pivot 1.20167, R1 1.21333, S1 1.19333.

Round numbers

High 105, low 95, close 100: pivot 100, R1 105, S1 95, R2 110, S2 90.

Camarilla

With the same EUR/USD day, R3 is 1.21050 and S3 1.19950, the levels Camarilla traders watch for reversals.

How to use the Pivot Point Calculator

  1. Enter high, low and close. From the previous period.

Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate a pivot point?

Add the previous period's high, low and close and divide by three. Support and resistance levels are then worked out from that pivot and the period's range using the formulas for the chosen method.

Which pivot point method is best?

Classic pivots are the most widely used and shown by default on many platforms. Camarilla suits short-term trading around the close, while Woodie and Fibonacci are personal preferences; none is more accurate.

Should I use the daily or weekly high and low?

For intraday trading use yesterday's high, low and close to get today's levels. For swing trading use last week's figures to get weekly pivots that stay valid for the whole week.

Why do my levels differ from my platform?

Platforms may use a different session close, especially in forex, where the day can end at 5 pm New York time. Use the same session's high, low and close as your platform.

Do pivot points work for crypto?

The formulas work for any market with a high, low and close. Crypto trades all day, so choose a fixed daily cut-off, such as midnight UTC, and use it consistently.
